Presentation of the Barcelona Datastore portal from Barcelona City Council

The Barcelona Datastore portal integrates and aggregates all the different municipal data dissemination spaces, active during the last two decades: the website of the Department of Statistics and Data Dissemination, the Barcelona Economia website or the Open Data service (Open Data BCN), while connecting with other municipal services such as the Registry of Opinion Surveys and Studies or the BCNROC document repository.

It also brings together access to the data and the analysis that the City Council makes of it, facilitating its access in all available formats: statistical tables, microdata, data stories, surveys, analysis documents and maps, with the desire to satisfy the needs that citizens have depending on their objectives and regardless of the user's degree of technical knowledge.

We hope that for all those people who firmly believe in the evidence provided by data, as a means to build and defend a better city for all, the Barcelona Datastore portal becomes a reference tool in this task.

We incorporate access tokens to the resources of the datasets of the Bicing service of the city of Barcelona

In order to improve access to data from the Bicing service datasets of the city of Barcelona, we incorporated access via user access token. We try to avoid exhausting the access quota due to recurring requests that affect response time or availability for the rest of the users.

To facilitate the change for users of this datasets, resources without prior identification will remain published until 31/1/2024, but from this date only access will be possible to resources that require identification.

Open Data BCN and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development

Open Data BCNis aligned with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development by classifying all the datasets published by the 17 SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), highlighting one Main and assigning, if applicable, a maximum of 2 Collateral SDGs.

This classification is enabled on the home page of the portal and Statistics and also in the form of a filter in the online and in downloadable catalogues. Likewise, it is also visible in the dataset tab in the 'Additional information' section.

All the information can be found in the new Agenda 2030-ODS section.

Catalogue of datasets published in Open Data BCN. How to find the published data?

Online, the Catalogue of datasets of the Open Data BCN portal has a powerful search engine, as well as filters by themes and sub-themes of classification, tags, formats, update frequency, historical information... but the dataset of datasets called Barcelona City Council Open Data catalogue - Open Data BCN available in .csv, .json and .rdf formats can also be very useful.

Climate shelters network in the city of Barcelona

To help mitigate the effects of the climate crisis, the Barcelona City Council has created a network of spaces for climate shelters, where citizens will be able to shelter from the heat. This information has been incorporated in a reusable format, .json and .csv, under the subtopic Environment of the Open Data BCN catalogue with the dataset Climate shelters network in the city of Barcelona.

The new Asia at Open Data BCN

ASIA is a corporate application that brings together information and data referring to facilities, entities and the agenda of the city of Barcelona, but it is also the source of a large number of data sets published in the Open Data BCN, such as those of the  Plànol BCN  and  Agenda-Equipamientos

On the occasion of the launch of the new version of this application, the Open Data BCN portal is gradually adapting the resources of the datasets, which affects the structure and the formats, these being widened as much as possible. It is also used to publish new data.

The resources published from the old application, except the agendas, remained published for a period of 3 months, without updates, indicating this fact in the description. On the 14th of July 2021, these datasets will no longer be available.
