With the codes M 3713011 and M 3746181 respectively, the Barcelona City Council has registered the Open Data BCN name in the Oficina Española de Patentes y Marcas and also the logo that identifies it.
Regarding the name, Open Data BCN, it has been assessed that, with this action, the identification of our service in the different search engines will be unequivocal and this will facilitate access to all interested parties, taking into account that almost 50% of access to the portal come from outside our territory.
For the past 4 months, and as we announced in the corresponding news article, a qualitative change has been carried out with the datasets published in the Open Data BCN portal that contain Culture data, without involving any loss of information.
This change is now completed, highlighting the benefit of increasing the analytical potential for the reuser, since it allows crossing data with much more agility, it facilitates the creation of new indicators and, for the system manager, facilitates the management and maintenance of the system when reducing the number of datasets and published resources.
During the next few months, and as the datasets of Statistics published in the Open Data BCN portal are being treated, a qualitative change will be made in the datasets containing information on Culture. The data, so far presented so that each dataset contains a single concept, are now organized so that the dataset contains all the concepts that can be analysed together.
Many datasets of the Open Data BCN portal also have resources published with historical data. What does this mean? Well, not only the current information of the corresponding management system is published, with the indicated periodicity, but also that data of years, quarters or previous months are available to all users, allowing different studies and comparisons to be made. The catalog facilitates the search through the filter 'Historical information: Yes'
The Open Data BCN website publishes data about the Social Services network in the city of Barcelona. So far, the only information about this topic available for visualisation was in the map of the city of Barcelona in the option Services and facilities > Social Services. Now it can also be found in a reusable format. This way, the care homes and day cares for the elderly, social dining rooms and social services centres, childhood and adolescent care teams, social welfare offices, protected housing, energy advisory points and care points for the women are the new data which from now on are accessible to all the reusers.
The Open Data BCN website publishes data from the infrastructure network related to mobility in the city of Barcelona. The data is about the traffic light regulation elements, the vertical signalling and its supports, the inscriptions of horizontal signalling, the reserved parking lots and the pedestrian crossings.
The Open Data BCN portal publishes the Off-street parking inventory of the B:SM (Barcelona de Serveis Municipals) network in the city of Barcelona. All the characteristics of the parking how are they, their localization, their timetables, their fee rates or the type of services available are detailed in this dataset. This data is added to the data already published about the surface parking spots of the same network in the city.
During the next few months, there will be a change that will gradually affect datasets which contain statistical data of Demography and Habitat, published in the Open Data BCN portal. This information, now in WIDE format due to the data origins, will be available in LONG format, meaning the information now given in different datasets will be presented, in some cases, in one only dataset. The format will be csv at all times.
Open Data BCN portal publish for first time data related to air quality of the city of Barcelona. One of them is the dataset with the locations, codes and main features of the Air quality measure stations of the city of Barcelona and the other one is the Air quality of the city of Barcelona with the real-time data of O3 (tropospheric Ozone), NO2 (Nitrogen dioxide), and PM10 (suspended particles). The source of this information is the Direcció General de Qualitat Ambiental i Canvi Climàtic de la Generalitat de Catalunya, reason why you also can find data of all the stations located in Catalonia.
