During the next few months, there will be a change that will gradually affect datasets which contain statistical data of Demography and Habitat, published in the Open Data BCN portal. This information, now in WIDE format due to the data origins, will be available in LONG format, meaning the information now given in different datasets will be presented, in some cases, in one only dataset. The format will be csv at all times.
Open Data BCN portal publish for first time data related to air quality of the city of Barcelona. One of them is the dataset with the locations, codes and main features of the Air quality measure stations of the city of Barcelona and the other one is the Air quality of the city of Barcelona with the real-time data of O3 (tropospheric Ozone), NO2 (Nitrogen dioxide), and PM10 (suspended particles). The source of this information is the Direcció General de Qualitat Ambiental i Canvi Climàtic de la Generalitat de Catalunya, reason why you also can find data of all the stations located in Catalonia.
Open Data BCN takes part in the 12th Science Festival. You can find us at the 'Núvol de dades' space on Saturday the 9th where different activities concerning open data will take place. One of the innovations is the release of the interactive activity ‘Open Data per a “Dummies”’ where you could make an approach to this world in the most ludic way. Test yourself with any of the two paths we propose: ‘What do we complain about?’ and ‘Traffic accidents’. Surely it will surprise you!
We add Open Data BCN catalog two new filters to the existing ones of Theme / Sub-theme, Tags, Formats, Licenses, Geolocation and Update Frequency. They are the Historical information filter, to facilitate the selection of datasets containing historical series and the CKAN API available filter, useful for the most technical reuser because they can directly select the datasets with this interface. These both criteria are included in the dataset "Barcelona City Council Open Data catalogue - Open Data BCN"
New data for Mobility study are incorporated into the Open Data BCN portal, which now publishes the real-time data of Bicing service use . The new dataset Bicing service use of the city of Barcelona is available in Json format and it includes information of the number of mechanical and electrical bicycles, as well as the sum of the 2 types, in circulation in the city of Barcelona. The portal also offers, around this same service, the dataset Bicing stations of the city of Barcelona (Mechanics and electrics)

We are celebrating: the new Open Data BCN portal reaches its first year.
Open Data BCN is a key piece in the Barcelona Digital City strategy and it is integrated within the new Data Analytics Office, created recently, which has the goal to improve and coordinate the ethical and responsible management of the data inside the Barcelona City Hall starting from three lines of work: data gathering and storage, analytics, machine learning and predictions and finally, data sharing and communication. Barcelona wants to make data a common good, a city infrastructure controlled by citizens and open to local entrepreneurs.
The site Open Data BCN publishes for the first time the information about the zones, the timetables, the fares and the colours of the Surface parking spots in the city of Barcelona. The spots of the Green, Blue, Resident exclusive and Urban Merchandise Distribution (DUM) areas are ready to be treated by the reusers’ community.
BCNROC is the institutional repository with which the Ajuntament de Barcelona provides free and open access to its digital documentation of public diffusion to easy the citizens’ work in research, knowledge and reuse of the municipal documentation.
Since October 2017, Open Data BCN adds historical resources in the datasets of the Traffic state information by sections of the city of Barcelona and the Traffic street sections of the city of Barcelona information with his actual weather, in relation to the actual weather and the predicted weather in 15 minutes. The information is automatically updated and shown by month.
