Air quality data of the city of Barcelona available on the portal

Open Data BCN portal publish for first time data related to air quality of the city of Barcelona. One of them is the dataset with the locations, codes and main features of the Air quality measure stations of the city of Barcelona and the other one is the Air quality of the city of Barcelona with the real-time data of O3 (tropospheric Ozone), NO2 (Nitrogen dioxide), and PM10 (suspended particles). The source of this information is the Direcció General de Qualitat Ambiental i Canvi Climàtic de la Generalitat de Catalunya, reason why you  also can find  data of all the stations located in Catalonia.

The new Open Data BCN portal celebrates its first anniversary!

We are celebrating: the new Open Data BCN portal reaches its first year.

Open Data BCN is a key piece in the Barcelona Digital City strategy and it is integrated within the new Data Analytics Office, created recently, which has the goal to improve and coordinate the ethical and responsible management of the data inside the Barcelona City Hall starting from three lines of work: data gathering and storage, analytics, machine learning and predictions and finally, data sharing and communication. Barcelona wants to make data a common good, a city infrastructure controlled by citizens and open to local entrepreneurs.

PRIZE Barcelona Dades Obertes Challenge

Last Friday, 15th of June, the winning team along with their professors and the rest of their class from the Ferran Tallada Institute, enjoyed the prize of the Barcelona Dades Obertes Challenge.

It was about a guided tour with the Media-TIC building, the axis of the economic strategy and innovation in Barcelona, Following a walkthrough through different corporations of the technological sector and a custom workshop of data analysis.

The students and their professors could acknowledge the corporations within the Media-TIC building from the hands of their founders and employees.

The second part of the activity consisted in a workshop about data analysis, executed by the Dr. Oleguer Sagarra (cofounder of Dribia) with practical examples of projects of data science.

All who took part in this experience deemed it very positive.

Barcelona Dades Obertes Challenge FINAL EVENT

The Fàbrica de Creació Fabra i Coats has hosted today, May 3, 2018, the awards of the Barcelona Open Data Challenge with more than 300 assistants among young students, teachers and staff from other institutions and entities related to the data.

This event has been the closing act of the first edition of this educational project that, as a pilot project and for the first time, aims to promote the knowledge and use of the open data published in the Open Data BCN portal in the educational centers of the city.

The winner of this edition has been the project presented by the Institut Ferran Tallada, called 'Social cohesion goes through neighborhoods', an analysis based on social cohesion indexes (ICS) to measure and compare the inequalities of the city's districts. Information here.
