The infographist from the newspaper La Vanguardia, Clara Penin, was in charge yesterday, January 22, of the training of the third and final session for the teachers enrolled in the Specific Training Plan on open data of the Barcelona Dades Obertes Challenge.

Emphasizing the method of the 5 'W' and 1 'H' in journalism, in the first part of the session, Clara showed interesting examples, leaving more than clear that visualizations facilitate the understanding of information. The second part was a practice session where teachers performed an exercise using the LibreOffice Draw, an open source vector graphics editor.

In this session we also had a very interesting and motivating talk by the teacher Jordi Cortadella, coordinator of the Bachelor's Degree in Data Science and Engineering from UPC, who, after highlighting the astronomical amount of data we generate and dispose of, emphasized, among other things, the importance of data in real time. Also in data management ethics, instilling the value of information power into new generations where girls will play a key role. There are many issues and problems to be studied and solved, climate emergency one of them.

We thank all the participants again for their interest and effort. Now they have all the tools to work with the data of the portal Open Data BCN in the classroom with their students and we are sure that, as in previous editions, they will surprise us with interesting projects.

We also remind you that participation in the competition can be done directly, without participation in this training plan, by presenting a project as indicated by the Bases and the Call for registration.
