On April 18th, at the IES Salvador Espriu, the Barcelona Dades Obertes Challenge was presented, an initiative led by Open Data BCN, open data service of the Ajuntament de Barcelona.

This session was included within the TAC Seminars (Learning and Knowledge Technologies) organized by the Consorci d’Educació de Barcelona on topics related to the integration of TACs in education in the field of learning about digital inclusion.

The project was presented by Mª Mercè Fígols, responsible for the Open Data BCN service. In order to contextualize it, an introduction was made on base concepts of open data to later go on to explain in detail the portal that this service makes available to all citizens, with special emphasis on the wide catalog of data that is offered without restriction of use. Open Data BCN is one of the best rated portals nationally and internationally.

The assistant professors agreed that having such a large set of data is a very useful didactic resource in the classrooms.

We make a reminder from here that teachers who are interested to attend Barcelona Dades Obertes Challenge Final Event can register using the form enabled on the page, where they will be able to see the interesting works with data that teachers and students participating in the contest have done.
